You & Your Baby
Julie Whitehead- 2019 Portsmouth News Honours Award
Dear families of Portsmouth.
I am writing to announce the closure of the You & Your Baby Hub at Bransbury Park.
All classes will stop as of Sat 17th August 2019.
I have been at the hub in Bransbury Park for almost 6 years and loved every minute of it. We have had highs and lows and I’ve met the most wonderful families. I have had so much joy watching new pregnant women transition into beautiful confident new mothers. Here are a few things that we enjoyed helping
We had local commissioning to provide Post-natal Depression support and we helped many mothers in their darkest moments feel strong again. Working with Talking Change the women all learned life skills to help with low mood or anxiety. Mothers had a place to come and chat and share their feelings whilst seeking advice or joining in with our free classes.
The pregnancy and post-natal Pilates gave women information so they could make informed choices in labour and childbirth. We taught deep relaxation and mindfulness whilst connecting with your baby. We supported the new mothers in becoming strong and healing after childbirth.
Developmental Baby Massage helped parents to connect and bond with their baby whilst making friends.
The Monday baby group was a great start to the week for all the new mums and was a place to access help and guidance in those early days.
Hypnobirthing informed couples of how to put their fears a side and look forward to the birth of their baby using breathing and relaxation techniques.
We hosted a monthly evening event for parents of transgender children helping the parents and children with information and peer support.
Baby and child first aid taught all parents what to do in an emergency.
We have received funding along the way from mothers and companies to help the hub keep going but with so many baby groups now available we have decided to close the hub and work independently. We thank you all for all donations and they will be used to help support mothers.
I would like to thank all the families that have popped into the You and Your Baby Hub, every day was a gift. I will still be available for a while on a 1-2-1- basis to support mothers and occasional group work when needed. My post-natal midwifery and feeding support will continue for a while.
I will look back at this part of my life with immense pride and love. I have met so many wonderful families and adorable babies. Its time to move on and start a new chapter in my own life, I feel I know a whole new generation of Portsmouth children and for that I am truly grateful.,
I Will think of you all often and hold you in my heart
By giving parents-to-be lots of information and choices the transition from pregnancy to parenthood can to be as smooth as possible.
Care can start in early pregnancy by attending Aqua natal classes or pregnancy Pilates and might finish with baby massage or post natal fitness. Whatever your need during pregnancy, birth and beyond,
You and Your Baby will help and advise you to make it an enjoyable experience.

Post Natal Midwife Care in Your Home
Most people underestimate the value of postnatal care. Much emphasis is placed upon antenatal care and preparation for the birth of your baby. It can be quite daunting coming home with your new baby, not knowing where to get support from.
The support you receive can make a big difference in your adjustment to parenthood.
